The Communications Department at Simmons College seeks one to two adjunct instructors to fill part-time course load assignments. The start date for this appointment will be January 17th, 2018 and will last through May 12th, 2018.

Successful candidate(s) will be responsible for teaching one or both of the following course(s):
  • Comm 122, Media Writing Bootcamp, M-Th, 12:30-1:50; Introduces students to the fundamental skills of information gathering, writing, and copy editing for the mass media. Covers AP and other writing styles that students will eventually be expected to master to gain recognition as competent communicators. Includes writing news stories, press releases, blogs, social media, opinion articles, and memos.
  • Comm 323, Digital Cultures: Communications and Social Media, Tuesday evenings, 6-9pm: Communicators are challenged to develop literacies and competencies in what currently resembles a whirlwind of perpetually emerging communication technologies. Tracing the trajectory of participatory or social cultures, we will investigate the impact of these tools on meaning making practices. A hands-on approach grounds this course and its engagement in the long-standing debates in media and cultural theory.

  • Master's degree required; Ph. D. preferred.
  • Teaching experience is preferred, at either the college or high school level.

Instructions for Applicants:
Please submit a cover letter, CV (including references), and evidence of teaching excellence in the Resume/CV section of your application for consideration. Applications will be reviewed until the position is filled.
