Employee type: Full-time, Assistant/Associate Professor of English Composition

Required education: The position requires at least a Master’s degree in composition or related field and experience in developmental writing for domestic and international students, writing across the curriculum, or writing pedagogy. Preference will be given to those with a Ph.D. in composition.

Location: Angola, IN

Summary: The Department of Humanities and Communication invites applications for a permanent, full-time Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2017. This position will involve teaching a four-course load of undergraduate composition courses in both the fall and spring semesters.

A successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in teaching, enthusiasm for developing and implementing departmental and university initiatives, and a commitment to collaborative pedagogy.

The Department of Humanities and Communication (HAC) is one of the most active departments on campus. We offer Bachelor of Art degrees with majors in Communication and English as well as offering minors in Communication and English. HAC faculty members direct the Overlooked Film Festival, the Humanities Symposia, the Walter Cunningham Writing Contest, and the Writing Center. In addition, members of our department sit on the Humanities Institute board, advise student groups such as Drama Club and SPEAK (our student environmental protection organization), and serve on a variety of university committees. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrate excellence in teaching of composition
Demonstrate commitment to serving and advising students
Serve as an active member of the Department of Humanities and Communication
Collaborate with faculty across the disciplines to enhance the teaching of writing
Liaise with various student support services
Possess excellent interpersonal skills
Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
Salary & Benefits: Full-time, faculty-line salary and benefit schedule.
