Lecturer - English/Literature (3 year renewable)


Position Category: Faculty - Non Tenure Track (FT)

Summary:

Under the direction of the Department Chair of English & Literature, the faculty member teaches four courses per semester related to the English & Literature concentration and other courses as deemed appropriate. Provides service to the college and community, and upholds professional and ethical standards.
*Designs, plans, and teaches four courses per semester (teaching assignments are composition courses with the possibility of other courses as the Department requires).
  • Instructs and supervises individuals and groups during regularly scheduled office hours and in classrooms through lectures, discussions, conferences, demonstrations, individualized instructions, and other appropriate methods.
  • Prepares instructional materials including writing assignments, examinations, outlines, syllabi, visual aids, and presentations, as necessary.


Required Qualifications:

An earned masters degree in English or a closely related field, from an accredited college or university, and a minimum of three years of successful teaching of English at the college/university level.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of subject matter and course content of composition courses
  • Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to manage, motivate and evaluate students.


Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university, and a minimum of three years of successful teaching of English

Physical Requirements:

Work is normally performed in a typical classroom/office work environment.
