West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), a regional divisional four-year campus of West Virginia University (WVU) located in Southern West Virginia (Beckley), is currently inviting applications and nominations for the following employment opportunity:

The Department of History, English, and Creative Arts within the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, seeks to hire a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of English. We are seeking an outstanding teacher to complement the faculty in a multidisciplinary department of History, English and Creative Arts.

Responsibilities include teaching twelve undergraduate hours per semester primarily of English composition. The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in English, with an emphasis in Composition and Rhetoric, demonstrate scholarly interest in English studies, participate in English studies initiatives, and contribute to the intellectual and cultural life of the university. Additional responsibilities include student advising, committee assignments, participation in professional development, attending regularly scheduled faculty and department meetings, and other duties associated with a tenure-track faculty position.

Date of Appointment: August 2018

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in English (at time of application), with an emphasis in Composition and Rhetoric, and evidence of effective teaching experience in composition courses at the college level are required. Experience with online instructional technologies, teaching Web classes, and evidence of scholarly promise are desirable.
