Position Summary

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenure-track position in French and Francophone studies at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment begins in August 2018. Candidates may specialize in any area of modern French and Francophone studies. Cross-disciplinary interests in fields such as theater and performance studies, the visual arts, 19th and early 20th century studies, Maghreb, Sub-Saharan Africa and Francophone North American studies are especially welcome.

Duties and Responsibilities

We seek a candidate who has teaching experience, an active research agenda and demonstrates scholarly promise. The successful candidate will also contribute to Villanovas commitment to excellence in teaching and student learning. Demonstrated abilities in teaching at all levels of the curriculum, dedication to program building and leadership, native or near native fluency in French and English, and a PhD in a program of French studies in hand by August 2018 are required.
