Position Description:  The Philosophy Department at Baylor University seeks to hire a regular full-time tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. The term of service begins in the Fall semester of 2025.  

We welcome applications from any area of specialization or competence. Still, we are particularly interested in candidates who will broaden our coverage of the history of philosophy (analytic or continental) from Kant forward, political philosophy, or historically underrepresented philosophical traditions.

Expectations for this position include:  

  • teaching and mentoring students at the graduate and undergraduate levels
  • a significant research and publication agenda
  • a willingness to pursue appropriate grant funding opportunities
  • collegial involvement in the department's programs and activities
  • support for Baylor's Christian mission

Qualifications: Candidates should possess an earned doctorate by the time of appointment; a record of scholarship, teaching, and service commensurate with the rank of Assistant Professor; and an active Christian or Jewish faith.

  5. Copy of a transcript from the highest degree granting institution (unofficial copy acceptable for application; if the Ph.D. is in progress, a copy of the official transcript of completed Ph.D. hours should also be submitted).
