The English Program at CI seeks a versatile Assistant Professor with expertise in English Education at the undergraduate level. Applications should demonstrate academic background, publications, and/or teaching experience in English Education or Secondary Literacy with a focus in English and one or more of the following areas: second language acquisition, linguistics, writing process pedagogy, young adult literature, writing in and across disciplines, technical writing.

Required Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in English, English Education, Rhetoric and Composition, Curriculum and Instruction, or equivalent.

Familiarity with K-12 teaching, needs of diverse learners, and the California standards and framework for English Language Arts and English Language Development. Commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising; ongoing scholarly and/or creative agenda.

As a condition of employment, this position will require a background check. The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter’ under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Three years of teaching experience in diverse secondary schools preferred. Also desirable is an ability to work with faculty from other areas; to contribute diverse perspectives, such as international and multicultural ones; and to participate in the service needs of the department and university community.
