Position Summary

The Department of Global Interdisciplinary Studies at Villanova University, invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Chinese (continuing, full time, non-tenure track) to teach undergraduate courses beginning in Fall 2018.

Preference will be given to candidates with specialization in Chinese cultural studies, but other specializations such as Chinese philosophy, Chinese communications or media studies, will also be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in teaching, be able to teach Chinese language courses at upper levels, as well as offer courses in his/her specialty. Although active research and publication record is not required as condition of employment, candidates with demonstrable research interests in their specialization are encouraged to apply. Candidates will be expected to contribute to the Chinese Language and Culture program.

Minimum Qualifications

Native or near-native fluency in Chinese and English are required. Candidates should have Ph.D in hand, but applicants close to completing their degree will be considered. Degree must be completed by August 1, 2018.
